- Prime lens only have one focal length
- Zoom lenses have variable focal length
- Often camera bodies are sold by themselves, and you need to buy the lenses separately
- The bigger the lens the closer it gets
- There is a deference between lens and zoom
- If there is more light available use a low ISO
- If there is less light available use a higher ISO
- But using the lowest ISO can help avoid noise in your picture
- Low shutter speeds causes camera shake if you’re holding the camera while taking the picture
- Aperture determines how much light you let in
- The smaller the number the bigger the hole, more light
- Larger aperture, shallower depth of filed
- Full Auto- camera does everything for you
- CA- camera does almost everything for you
- But if you press the Q button you can control the brightness, depth of field and picture style
- Program- camera sets shutter speed and aperture, but you can choose ISO, AF/MF, white balance
- TV- you choose shutter speed, camera chooses appropriate aperture
- AV- you choose aperture, camera chooses appropriate shutter speed
- Manual- you chose everything
- A-Dep- camera chooses aperture, shutter speed combo to get best depth of field
- ISO, aperture and shutter speed should all be balanced like a triangle
- Most cameras have presets
- Daylight, cloudy, flash, various indoor lights are all camera presets
